Family returns to home destroyed by Eaton Fire

An Altadena family returned to see the wreckage of their home, which was destroyed by the Eaton Fire, at the insistence of their oldest son. The family says the children are struggling to grasp what happened.

Fire authorities said a 13,000+ acre fire in the Angeles National Forest and LA's San Gabriel Valley, including the communities of Altadena and La Cañada Flintridge, turned deadly as the firefight against the wind-driven blaze continued.

In an update Thursday afternoon, Los Angeles County Fire Chief Anthony Marrone said the fire is estimated at 13,690 acres with 0% containment. Investigators believe at least 4,000 to 5,000 structures including homes, commercial structures, or other smaller buildings, are either damaged or destroyed.
