Deadly motorcycle crash shuts down portion of 405 Freeway in North Hills

A deadly motorcycle crash shut down the 405 Freeway in the North Hills area of Los Angeles Thursday evening.

All southbound traffic lanes of the 405 Freeway were closed for the investigation. A SigAlert was issued for the area for at least an hour, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash happened at about 7 p.m. near Roscoe Boulevard. The motorcycle rider was pronounced dead at the scene. Their age and gender were not immediately known.

It was unclear if another vehicle was involved in the crash.

As of 10:49 p.m., all traffic lanes were open.

The investigation is ongoing.
