In Depth: Fighting Food Insecurity

In segment one, Chef Supreme Dow talks about The Harvest Academy. Then, Chef Cristela Alvarado and Chef Brian Beasley discuss how a program with St. Joseph Center and Bread and Roses has helped them. In segment three, Christy Dawson, Founder and Manager of Christy’s Foundation, talks to Hal about her food banks that are now open in three malls across Southern California.

In segment one, Chef Supreme Dow is a vegan chef committed to serving the homeless and veterans.

In segment two, Chef Cristela Alvarado and Chef Brian Beasley work with the St. Joseph Center and their café Bread and Roses which not only serves hot healthy meals to unhoused individuals, but also provides training for those same individuals to become chefs themselves. They tell Hal about their stories and how the program has helped them.
