Disturbance call leads to police fatally shooting man in Anaheim
ANAHEIM, Calif. - A man was killed in an officer-involved shooting following a disturbance call in Anaheim late Thursday night, police said.
Two officers with the Anaheim Police Department responded to an apartment building located near the intersection of East Street and Lincoln Avenue after the department received a call from someone asking for help around 11 p.m.
A resident, who asked to remain anonymous, told FOX 11 they heard a couple arguing.
Shortly after officers arrived, at least one of the officers fired shots toward the suspect in the underground parking structure of the complex.
It was unclear what led to the shooting.
A man was taken to UCI Medical Center where he died from his injuries sustained in the shooting, Anaheim police said. Police later identified the suspect as 34-year-old Taveonte Art Emmanuel of Anaheim.
The two officers were not injured and were wearing body cameras. Officials said footage from the body cameras will be used in the investigation.
The Orange County District Attorney’s Office and Anaheim PD will conduct separate investigations.
