Downey car audio shop owner shoots alleged robbers; 2 killed
DOWNEY (FOX 11 / CNS) - The owner of a Downey car audio shop shot three men -- two fatally -- when they tried to rob the business at gunpoint, police said Tuesday.
The shooting occurred about 8:15 p.m. Monday at First Class Car Audio, 8856 Rosecrans Ave., the Downey Police Department reported.
Two men died at the scene, and the third was hospitalized, police said. The names of the dead men, who were in their 30s, were withheld, pending family notification.
"Detectives have determined three armed men entered the business and attempted to rob the business owner,'' police said. "Gunfire was exchanged during which the business owner shot all three suspects, two of whom died at the scene. The third suspect sought medical treatment for his gunshot wounds at a local hospital and is receiving medical care. Detectives are still questioning him.''
