Dr. Lucy Jones weighs in on the latest earthquake, COVID-19, her new podcast
LOS ANGELES - Did you feel it? A quake measuring 5.8 hit just north of Ridgecrest Wednesday, with people feeling the shaking across the southland. The quake was centered in the Lone Pine area of central California.
That quake hit around 10:40 a.m. It was centered about three miles underground and gave folks even hundreds of miles away a pretty good jolt.
Steven Wheeler took video of dust clouds rising off the Sierra Nevada’s as the quake dislodged rocks up in the mountains.

And, almost 300 miles away in Fresno, a resident saw the light fixtures in her kitchen swaying from the temblor.
Seismologist Dr. Lucy Jones says the quake comes after what she described as a foreshock that happened on Monday.
She adds that it’s not unusual to have quakes in that area. Interestingly, a lot of people got California-my-shake-app alerts about the quake even in the Los Angeles area.
Jones discussed quakes, COVID-19 and her new podcast “Getting through it” on this week's FOX 11 News In Depth. You can watch Sunday at 9am on FOX 11 and at noon on MY13.
