Driver charged in killing of CarMax salesman declared a fugitive

A man charged with killing a CarMax salesman while test driving a Corvette has been declared a fugitive.

Alex Demetro allegedly crashed a Corvette into a tree during a test drive February 23 in Ontario. Warren Smale, the CarMax employee who was with Demetro, died from injuries he got in the crash.

Demetro posted $100,000 bail and was released from jail the next day.

On March 7, the San Bernardino County District's Office charged Demetro with gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, driving while under the influence of a drug causing injury and driving when privilege suspended or revoked.
