DTLA mural "talks" to inspire during pandemic

We've all seen a mural to inspire, but a talking mural? Noted artist Robert Vargas brought his "Our Lady of DTLA" mural to life, so to speak. It was all part of the downtown high rise community and it's 8pm salute to those on the front lines of the coronavirus pandemic.

Using a projection onto the mural gives the appearance of moving lips along with it plays an audio track with a message called "We Will Rise." From there, Vargas blasts the Journey song "Don't Stop Believin".

All this was in conjunction with a new tradition. Downtown residents fling open their windows at 8pm in celebration of the medical community. Vargas timed "We Will Rise" to match his community.

Vargas painted the mural seven years ago and is currently working on a 14 story building mural call "Angelus"... Angel Us.
