LOS ANGELES COUNTY, Calif. - The Eaton Fire burning in the Angeles National Forest and LA's San Gabriel Valley was one of the many fires that erupted in Los Angeles County Tuesday as destructive Santa Ana winds continued to rip through Southern California.
During an update on Wednesday, Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna said five people were killed, a significant number of injuries were reported, and 100 structures were damaged.
In the latest update, Cal Fire reported the fire had grown to 10,600 acres and was 0% contained. Officials have asked residents to "leave now."
Not only is the public being ordered to leave, Pasadena Water and Power is urging residents not to drink water out of the tap in evacuated areas. Officials warn drinking water in the evacuated areas could get you sick due to debris and elevated turbidity possibly interfering with the systems.

Eaton Fire: Officials give update on Altadena fire that claimed 5 lives
City officials in Altadena, Pasadena and those with LA County held a press conference to provide an update on the growing Easton Fire.
Between 200 and 500 structures have been damaged and/or destroyed, Pasadena Fire Chief Chad Augustin said. The exact number is not known.
750 firefighters and 60 strike teams are battling the fire. Augustin credits officers and firefighters for pulling people out of burning buildings and saving lives.
"Our death count today would be significantly higher without their heroic actions," Augustin said.

2 killed in Eaton Fire in Altadena-Pasadena area
LA County Fire Chief Anthony C. Marrone said in an update Wednesday morning that two people have died as a result of the Eaton Fire.
During a press conference Wednesday evening, the Superintendent of Pasadena Unified School District, Dr. Elizabeth Blanco, said at least five campuses were damaged in the fire. They include Eliot Arts Magnet, Franklin Elementary which closed in 2020, Edison, Noyes, and Loma Alta.

Aldi Food Market goes up in flames
The Aldi Food Market went up in flames in Altadena on Wednesday afternoon as the Eaton Fire continues to rip through the area.
"This is not a drill, this is real time," said LA County Supervisor Kathryn Barger during a briefing on Wednesday morning.
According to Barger, five looting arrests have been made in the fire zone.
The fire was first reported Tuesday near Altadena and Midwick drives just after 6:15 p.m. in Altadena.

Altadena man tries to save home amid massive blaze
A man in Altadena tried to save his home as a raging fire destroyed his neighborhood.
Some communities under evacuation orders include Pasadena, La Cañada Flintridge, Altadena, and Sierra Madre.

Eaton Fire explodes overnight
The Eaton Fire burning in the San Gabriel Valley exploded in size overnight, fire officials said.
Chief Marrone also said the department has reached capacity and that he’s requested additional aid from Orange, LA, Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties, as well as resources from out-of-state and Northern California. The additional resources include 50 engine strike teams, 250 fire engines, and over 1,000 personnel.
In addition, he said fire crews from Nevada, Oregon and Washington were on the road to help tackle the fires.
A FOX 11 ground crew was at the scene in Altadena as a group of nursing home residents were in the process of being evacuated.

Theme Park Closures
Universal Studios Hollywood and the Universal CityWalk were closed Wednesday due to the wind and fire conditions in the area. Park officials said they will monitor conditions, but they anticipate reopening on Thursday.

The National Weather Service said the area remains under a Fire Weather Watch through Friday evening.
