Man who allegedly pulled out gun at SoCal Target store shot, killed in police shooting
EL MONTE, Calif - Homicide detectives were investigating a deadly police shooting in El Monte after a brief pursuit that began when a man allegedly pulled out a gun at a Target store.

The shooting happened on Valley Boulevard near Tyler Avenue in the city of El Monte around 8:45 p.m. Monday.
The suspect was struck by police gunfire and died at the scene. No officers were injured during the incident.
According to the El Monte Police Department, officers initially responded to the Target store on the 3600 block of Peck Road for a customer disturbance call where they said the suspect reportedly revealed a firearm in his waistband.
When officers arrived, the suspect drove off in a black sedan and a short pursuit followed, police said.
The suspect abandoned the car near the Chase Bank on the 11000 block of Main Street before taking off on foot. At some point, police opened fire and shot the suspect.
LA County Sheriff’s Homicide Investigators are assisting El Monte Police Department with the investigation in the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
