LOS ANGELES - Emergency crews responded to a hazmat incident in the 4400 block of N. Ventura Canyon Avenue in Sherman Oaks late Thursday afternoon.
Los Angeles firefighters established a perimeter around the apartment building involved in this incident. Crews waited for Los Angeles police to clear the immediate area for entry.
At about 5:20 p.m., LAFD reported that LAPD officers determined the potentially hazardous material was not a threat to the public, and all fire crews were released from the scene.
Officials did not elaborate on what the material that prompted this investigation was.
The incident broke out shortly after 4:30 p.m. It's unknown if anyone was evacuated.
