Encino man arrested after wife's shooting death

A man is accused of shooting his wife in front of their children in Encino.

A man was arrested after he allegedly shot his wife to death in front of their teen son in the San Fernando Valley, authorities said.

Officers with the Los Angeles Police Department were called to a home in the 5100 block of Hesperia Avenue, near the intersection of Lindley Avenue and Ventura Boulevard in Encino, just before 7:25 p.m. Tuesday.

The couple was reportedly at the home to visit someone when they got into an argument inside their SUV while their son was in back seat.

Investigators believe the woman got out of the vehicle attempting to defuse the situation. At that point, the suspect allegedly followed her and began shooting her until she fell to the ground.

The victim was identified by officials as 54-year-old Linda Farzan-Kashani.

Neighbors said they heard so much gunfire, they actually thought it was fireworks.

"It was just pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, like that. Just back-to-back and I mean, I didn’t think of anything until my wife went outside and told me that there was police activity here," said neighbor Juan Carlos Reyes.

When officers arrived at the scene, they locked down the neighborhood because the suspect was not there. He was then found two blocks away after officers spotted him along Ventura Blvd. and Newcastle Ave., where he was taken into custody.

As for their son, he was reportedly taken in by some other family members.

Authorities identified the suspect as Sean Farzan and his bail was set at $3 million.
