Inmate rearrested after escaping from custody

An inmate who escaped custody in West Hollywood was captured hours later in Woodland Hills, LASD said.

An inmate, who managed to escape from custody outside the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station Friday morning, has been rearrested, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said. 

LASD officials said he got away from the station located at San Vicente and Santa Monica boulevards while he was being transported onto a bus around 7 a.m.

The inmate was identified as Jeremiah Pike, wanted for robbery.

LASD searching for escaped inmate in West Hollywood

The detainee broke free at the intersection of Santa Monica and San Vicente boulevards.

The sheriff's department says he scaled a fence at the sheriff's station. 

He was located around 5:30 p.m. Friday in the 6300 block of Glade Avenue in Woodland Hills. Deputies took him into custody without incident. 

Officials said he had handcuffs on one wrist. Surveillance video shows him causally walking out of a coffee shop.
