Evacuations ordered after 'Texas Fire' sparks in Santa Clarita, threatening homes, structures
SANTA CLARITA, Calif. - Firefighters got hold of a brush fire that sparked Thursday afternoon in Santa Clarita.
The 'Texas Fire,' which sparked near the 30500 block of Bouquest Canyon Road, has already burned more than 210 acres and firefighters said that structures are threatened. As of Friday morning, the fire was 50% contained.
Residents evacuated on Bouquet Canyon Rd. between Vasquez Canyon and Lenny Dr. are being escorted back to homes. Bouquet Canyon between Lenny Dr. and Spunky Canyon remains closed.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department's Air Operations Section used water-dropping helicopters to assist its ground crews as well as firefighters with the Angeles National Forest.
There was no immediate word on damage or injuries.
