Evacuations underway as wildfire spreads near Lake Piru in Ventura County
VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. - Mandatory evacuation orders have been issued for a remote area of Piru as crews work to contain a wildfire in the area.
The Lime Fire broke out Wednesday afternoon near the Lake Piru campground in Ventura County and has burned 450 acres so far, according to the Ventura County Fire Department.
As of Thursday morning, containment stands at 20%.
Firefighters say the blaze has potential to reach 1,000 acres. At least 25 structers are threatened. Over 125 firefighters are on scene.
The department says the fire is spreading quickly and burning in a difficult to access terrain. The fire is moving towards the lake and evacuations are underway for the campground area.
