Ex-boyfriend arrested in Winnetka double murder shooting
WINNETKA, Calif. (FOX 11 /CNS) - A man was in custody Tuesday as a suspect in the shooting deaths of his former girlfriend and a man in the woman's home in the Winnetka area on Sunday, police said.
Brian Anthony Gonzales, 24, will be booked on suspicion of murder, said Los Angeles Police Department Officer Tony Im. On Monday, police had sought public help to find Gonzales, also known as Brian Hammond. Details of his arrest were not immediately available.
About 4:20 p.m. Sunday, officers were sent to the 7600 block of Oso Avenue in response to a call reporting an assault with a deadly weapon, said LAPD Officer Aareon Jefferson.
Found dead at the scene were 22-year-old Emily Ann Fox of Winnetka and 24-year-old Jerrad Scott of La Mesa, in San Diego County, the coroner's office reported.
"The preliminary investigation has revealed that the female victim called 911 and reported that her ex-boyfriend was at her residence and was armed with a gun,'' police said in a statement. "Homicide detectives have
subsequently identified the female victim's ex-boyfriend (as the suspect).''
