Police respond to reports of armed man in Exposition Park

An armed man barricaded himself inside a business after police say he waved a gun at someone.

An armed man barricaded himself inside a business after police say he waved a gun at someone. After a nearly 5-hour standoff, the suspect was nowhere to be found. 

LAPD officers responded to reports of an armed suspect in the area of 30th and Flower streets near Exposition Park

A SWAT team was also sent to the location.

Due to the barricade, Metro E (Expo) Line trains were not running between the LATTC/Ortho Institute and Jefferson/USC stations. Some nearby streets were also closed in the area.

The barricade situation came to an end just around 2:30 p.m. when police made their way into the second-story apartment above the businesses and determined the suspect had fled.

According to reports from the scene, a shotgun was recovered.

No injuries were reported.
