Police impersonators rob, assault resident in Koreatown

The three suspects were dressed as police officers when they broke into the home just before 3 a.m. Saturday.

LOS ANGELES - An investigation is underway after a man was robbed and assaulted by three suspects impersonating police officers, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The violent home robbery happened Saturday just before 3 a.m. at an apartment complex on Wilshire Boulevard near Vermont.

Police say at least three masked men in police-style clothing broke into the home, then assaulted the resident before stealing cash and jewelry. 

Officers say one of the suspects was armed with a semi-automatic handgun. Paramedics treated the victim at the scene. He's expected to be okay.
