A 26-year-old man was arrested and is suspected of a crime spree that includes two carjackings at Fashion Island and then leading police on a chase and standoff in Newport Beach.

The Newport Beach Police Department first became aware of a carjacking just after 3:30 p.m. The suspect, identified by Newport Beach PD as Alfredo M. By 9 p.m., Hopgood surrendered to authorities.

Hopgood faces multiple charges including being a felon in possession of a firearm, theft using force, and carjacking.
