Fire Aid concert to honor blind 10-year-old who lost instruments in Eaton Fire

A 10-year-old boy whose family lost their home in the Eaton Fire will be honored onstage at the Fire Aid concert Thursday night.

Grayson Roberts and his family are some of the thousands who lost their homes in the deadly Palisades and Eaton Fires. But Grayson, who is blind, didn't just lose his home. An avid musician, Grayson lost his instruments and his braille materials as well.

The day the Eaton Fire broke out, Grayson was unable to see the flames approaching his home, but he said he "heard a lot of sirens and I felt pretty scared."

Terica Roberts, Grayson's mom, said she "knew that [the Eaton Fire] was abnormal, especially with the high winds, so we evacuated early. We left immediately as soon as I saw the fire."

In 2023, Grayson went viral because of a video of him jamming with blink-182 drummer Travis Barker at a lemonade stand Grayson runs.

On Thursday night, Grayson and the Roberts family were at the Intuit Dome for the Fire Aid concert.

"We'll be on stage, and we'll be introducing Tate Mcrae," said Terica Roberts. "We actually did an interview with Fire Aid and I believe they're going to show parts of that."

The Eaton Fire is one of the most destructive natural disasters in U.S. history. But Grayson believes the community will recover strongly.

"We can rebuild and make it bigger and better," Grayson said.
