Fire breaks out at Phillips 66 refinery in Carson
CARSON, Calif. (FOX 11) - A fire broke out Friday night at the Phillips 66 refinery in Carson.
Los Angeles County Fire Department crews were called about 7:15 p.m. to the refinery in the 1500 block of Sepulveda Boulevard, a dispatcher said. The fire may have resulted from a blown seal, the dispatcher said, adding that a county fire department foam unit was requested
It was not immediately clear if the fumes and smoke from the fire posed a risk to the public.
The raging flames appeared to die down around 7:45 p.m. as crews battled the fire, according to reports from the scene. Long Beach Fire Department crews were also summoned to the refinery,
the county fire department dispatcher said.
