Fireworks caused 15-acre brush fire in Hacienda Heights: officials
HACIENDA HEIGHTS, Calif. - Fire authorities determined that fireworks were the cause of a 15-acre fire that broke out in Hacienda Heights Tuesday night, Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn said.
Hahn reminded residents that "fireworks of any kind are illegal to have or use in unincorporated parts" of Los Angeles County.
Emergency crews battled the blaze Tuesday night that burned uphill near Punta Del Este Drive and East Colima Road in Hacienda Heights, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department assisted with voluntary evacuations in the area, which have since been lifted.
Deputies began investigating the cause of the fire and indicated fireworks were a possibility shortly after the fire ignited, according to Deputy Tracy Koerner of the Sheriff's Information Bureau.
Only one structure was threatened.
No injuries were reported.
FOX 11's Kelli Johnson and CNS contributed to this report.
