FOX 11 In Depth: ALS, Cruise Illness, Stop the Bleed
LOS ANGELES - SEGMENT A: Firefighters Toughest Fight
We talk with LAFD firefighter Eric Stevens, his wife and brother. Stevens was diagnosed with ALS in August, just a month after his wedding. As shattering as that diagnosis was, Stevens and his family take comfort in the support of his fire department cronies and the public. But his fears are that any treatment wouldn’t be approved by the FDA for years, and that might be too late for him.
SEGMENT B: Cruise Ship Illnesses
We talk to an infectious disease doctor and a travel expert about the recent cases of norovirus on the Norwegian Joy. Hal discusses how the back to back infected cruises could have occurred, the doctor explains how the disease is transmitted, and the travel expert shares tips to help avoid infection for cruise passengers/
