FOX 11 In Depth: Fighting Organized Retail Theft During the Holidays
(FOX 11) - SEGMENT ONE:
Over the years there have been so many cases of gangs or groups of people going into store and grabbing $100's of thousands of dollars of merchandise. And, during the holidays thefts always increase. LA is the number one city in the U.S. for organized retail theft according to the National Retail Federation.
So, the question is how to deal with it?
Recently, Governor Brown signed into law the new Organized Retail Theft crime law. And, Los Angeles and the LAPD have just announced a new partnership with ALTO U.S. to battle this trending crime.
On this week's show we talk with officials from ALTO US and the LAPD. Karl Langhorst heads up ALTO U.S., Joe LaRocca is a Loss Prevention/Retail Theft Specialist and joining them is LAPD Commander Blake Chow.

Astronaut Garrett Reisman has retired from NASA, but he's still got an amazing story. Now, teaching at USC, Reisman sounds excited the possibilities created by the increasing number of private companies in the space business setting up in Southern California.
He says that's great for the US space program and offers more local jobs. And, thanks to his You Tube channel we get to see him do all kinds of cool maneuvers and gyrations at the International Space Station
