LOS ANGELES - The United States Census Bureau looking to hire 1,400 people in the West San Fernando Valley area, including parts of Malibu.
The agency is hiring "census takers," and is recruiting hard this week with an approaching deadline.
The census has to be completed by Oct. 31 so the bureau is gearing up for their largest operation called the "Non-Response" follow up.
Jeffery Enos, the Deputy Director of the LA region, says "We need local people that speak the languages of their neighbors that live in the neighborhood."
To apply you must be at least 18-years-old, have a valid social security number, be a U.S. Citizen and have a valid email address.
Census takers go door-to-door to collect data from anyone who hasn't filled out their questionnaire, , Enos explained.
Employees are provided personal protective equipment and proper training so all CDC guidelines are met while out in the field.
"For LA County, it pays $25 an hour. You work 20 hours a week, you’re making $500 a week...not bad chump of change for a second job," he said.
The agency does offer flexible hours and you can find the application online.
