Fox 11 News In Depth: The Synagogue Attack as seen by local religious leaders
(FOX 11) - This week we are focusing on the Squirrel Hill synagogue attack. Our guests include members of several religious communities. We ask them to react, but also to give us ideas on how things could be changed when it comes to hate.
SEGMENT ONE:
Joining us in this and the next segment are Mike Stein, Marsha Novak, Rev. Steve Jerbi. Stein is a cantor at Temple Aliyah in Woodland Hills. Marsha Novak is a co-founder of the Interfaith Solidarity Network of the San Fernando Valley. Reverend Steve Jerbi is from Bethel Lutheran in Encino.
Those three were involved in a march in solidarity with the victims of the synagogue attack. Shay Roman and Max Greenberg are with a group called If Not Now and they were involved with a solidarity candlelight vigil. In this segment we explore feelings and concerns in the aftermath of the attack.
SEGMENT TWO:
Our same guests return. After watching the story of Esther Leon Schwartz, a Holocaust survivor, they react to what needs to be done to eliminate hate.
SEGMENT THREE:
Filmmaker Aaron Wolf joins us to talk about his new documentary Restoring Tomorrow about the restoration of the Wilshire Blvd. Temple and his reactions to the synagogue attack.
