INGLEWOOD, Calif. - "This black-on-black crime, this gang stuff has to stop. They’re killing our children and it’s not fair," says Lisa Neal.
On Monday night, her 18-year-old goddaughter Daina Monroe was gunned down as she sat in a car with three other people outside of her parent’s home in the 100 block of North Inglewood Avenue in Inglewood.
Daina’s father Darrin Monroe says, "A car drives up and a guy's leaning out on the side of the car, and then bullets, I think they shot about six to eight times. She got hit twice."
Daina was the only person in the car hit by the gunfire. She was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, but it was too late. "The doctor said that by the time she arrived, she had no pulse," says Daniel Butler, Daina’s brother.

Family friend and former daycare provider Knahkea Coleman says, "There's a war going on right now, they just don't care whose name is on the bullet at this point."
Monroe was a fierce volleyball player and a graduate of Culver City High School. Her family says she was recruited by 32 schools.
"Everyone loved her everywhere she went. She was a person you loved seeing coming in and hated to see leave, that was my daughter," says Monroe.
None of the victims are believed to be gang affiliated. They just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. So far, police have very little to go on. If you know anything about this case, contact the Inglewood police department.
