Grad Standout: Danny Trejo gives special shoutout to student-athlete who maintained a 4.0 GPA

She’s the captain of the girls varsity basketball team, a member of the culinary club, she raced in cross country and track and field and she did it all while maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA.

PUC Lakeview Charter High School grad Giselle Hernandez has a solid network of family and friends supporting her, including iconic actor Danny Trejo.

“Congratulations Mija! Whoa, you did it,” exclaimed the 76-year-old legend from Pacoima with over 400 IMDB credits to his name.

Trejo is a close friend of Hernandez’s uncle, a man affectionately known in the Sylmar community as “Chubby.”

Giselle says she plans to further her education in the fall at Sonoma State University.

“I’m super excited to see what life brings me in this new journey, new chapter. It should be really exciting to get the whole college experience,” said Hernandez.

Giselle’s family couldn’t be more proud of her as she enters this next chapter. Trejo also says he’s thrilled for Giselle and plans to champion Sonoma State.

“Jesse Hernandez, that’s awesome girl! I will get a t-shirt from there and I’ll rock it! That’s my university from now on,” said Trejo.

Congrats Giselle Hernandez from PUC Lakeview Charter High School in Sylmar for being featured on FOX 11’s Grad Standouts.
