LOS ANGELES - All lanes of the San Diego (405) Freeway were shut down Thursday afternoon in both directions at Inglewood Avenue in Redondo Beach due to a hazardous materials spill, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Around 2 p.m. all northbound lanes reopened in Redondo Beach. Around 3 p.m. all southbound lanes near Inglewood Avenue reopened.
It is believed a truck carrying thioglycolid acid spilled while driving on the freeway... prompting an hours long closure.
Traffic is backed up for miles as crews continue to clean the hazardous material. No injuries have been reported; it is not known when the freeway will reopen.
