Heavy rain triggers Hollywood Hills mudslide, prompts street closure
HOLLYWOOD HILLS, Calif. - A mudslide in the Hollywood Hills Monday prompted the closure of a street and left several feet of mud against the back of a home, but no one was hurt.
The slide was reported about 9:30 a.m. in the general area of the 2800 block of North Westshire Drive, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
All occupants got out of the home got out safely and no mud or water entered the residence, the LAFD reported.
About a 50-foot section of the hillside below Lechner Place slid down into the backyard of the residence, and Lechner Place was "comprised," according to the LAFD.
Traffic was routed away from the area, and Lechner Place was closed between Westshire Drive and Hollywood Drive. City building and safety inspectors were summoned to the scene.
