Heroes Among Us: Leimert Park restaurants team up to serve nutritious meals to isolated seniors

LOS ANGELES - A group of restaurants in Leimert Park in South Los Angeles have come together to deliver healthy, nutritious meals to isolated seniors.  

The owners want to make sure seniors within the community are able to get adequate nutrition during the pandemic.

The seniors have packed meals to hand-deliver to isolated seniors throughout the community.

Tony Jolly, the owner of Hot and Cool Cafe said it’s meant a lot seeing the impact the partnership has.

“One day I was in tears because they [the recipient] were so grateful. Despite what they received, just from someone on the door being able to reach out…a lot of these seniors have food, but they don’t have the energy to cook.”

The group has been able to feed 800 seniors.

In the process, they have been able to keep some of its workers employed.
