Protect Our Providers creates facial shields for nurses on front lines

Giving medical workers the facial shields they need to safely do their jobs is the mission of a group called "Protect Our Providers."

The effort was spearheaded by nurse Jill Brubaker and her family after she saw first hand the supply shortage of protective gear at her Mission Hospital during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Without secure supply chains, the risk to healthcare workers around the world is real. Industry and governments must act quickly to boost supply, ease export restrictions and put measures in place to stop speculation and hoarding. We can’t stop COVID-19 without protecting health workers first,” said WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

Brubaker contacted her brother, a construction worker, and together they got to work. The group of volunteers made over 2,300 masks over the weekend that are already being used on the front lines of the battle against COVID-19.

The group is asking residents to consider donating to assist with supply costs so the group can continue making the facial shields so medical workers can continue to do their jobs safely.
