Heroes Among Us: Walnut father collects donations for Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center
POMONA, Calif. - The Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center is getting much-needed supplies to fight the coronavirus pandemic, thanks to the efforts of one man.
For the past month, Kevin Chen, a teacher and father of two, has spent nearly every morning at a parking lot in Rowland Heights collecting donations.
Chen's efforts have made a tremendous impact. Officials at PMHMC say his contributions have amounted to more than half of all donations it has received.
Chen says he will continue his campaign through the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic.
He has set up a GoFundMe page where other members of the community can donate.
The Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center is also accepting donations. The donation drop off site is located at 360 Vinton Ave. in Pomona. The donation site is open between 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Donations can also be made online at: http://www.pvhmc.org/COVID19Donations
