High school basketball coach arrested for various sex crimes against a minor

A high school basketball coach was arrested Monday for various sex crimes against a minor.

Jovon Jenkins, 45, of Bloomington, faces charges of communicating with a minor with intent to commit sodomy, oral copulation of a minor and sodomy of a minor.

On Sunday, the San Bernardino County Central Sheriff's Station received a tip about a "suspicious relationship" between Jenkins, a basketball coach at AB Miller High School in Fontana, and a juvenile victim.

Authorities said the juvenile victim is not a student at AB Miller High School but met Jenkins in 2017 while he was employed as a coach at Grand Terrace High School and a travel ball coach in Rialto.

On Monday, the San Bernardino County Sheriff Department’s Crimes Against Children Detail opened an investigation and subsequently arrested Jenkins later that day. His bail was set at $250,000.

Anyone with information regarding this incident, or any unreported victims, was asked to contact Deputy Vanayes Quezada of the Specialized Investigations Division, Crimes Against Children Detail at 909-387-3615.
