Presumptive Democratic Nominee Hillary Clinton faced a different kind of crowd at this town hall meeting in Hollywood Tuesday. Largely millennial and generation Z, some have a mistrust of government. Others, are worried about things that directly affect them like college debt, internet bullying and homelessness.
The 100 or so in the auditorium, many of whom by their own admission, have not been connected to the presumptive nominees of the major parties were looking for signs that they could support Mrs. Clinton. They were mostly YouTube personalities who, in total have subscribers totaling into the 100's of millions and can influence their followers. Her words **could translate into young votes...
She tells a young woman whose concerned about crushing college debt, "It's a terrible burden so, yes I have a commitment to helping people with debt refinance that debt. Get it to a lower interest rate."
And, to the Bernie Sanders supporters in the crowd she says, "Bernie and I had a lot of the same ideas, the same way of getting to goals, but different approaches so we had some good debates."
But, there was no word on what she expects from Sanders in the days ahead. To influencers like Missy Lynn who have had a distrust of government, millennials are very important in this election, "because a large percentage of us aren't getting out there and voting."
No doubt Secretary Clinton hopes that will change.
