Historic downtown Los Angeles hotel reopens to public

A historic hotel in downtown Los Angeles, which has provided housing for frontline and essential workers during the pandemic, is now opening its doors to hotel guests.

The Hotel Figueroa originally opened as a hotel for women, by women under the YWCA in 1926, enduring the Great Depression and WWII.

"Given our history of serving the community in times of need, it felt natural for us to remain open in order to accommodate essential travelers, emergency medical personnel, and community members in need.," Owner Brad Hall said.

The hotels will now implement a number of protocols to ensure the safety of guests and staff.

Some of the measures include rigorous cleaning and sanitization of guest rooms, using UV sterilization technology, an indoor face masks requirement, a 10-foot social distancing protocol for all guests and staff, and no contact self check-in kiosks.

Hotel Figueroa is offering California residents a 26% off their stay starting at $179/per night.
