Deadline passes for homeless to relocate from Venice Beach Boardwalk

July 29 marked the "final warning" for those living in tents to leave Venice Beach. FOX 11's Mario Ramirez gives us an inside look from the beach on Friday morning.

Thursday marked the "final warning" for those experiencing homelessness to leave Venice Beach.

According to Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti's office, no one is allowed to camp on Venice Beach beginning Friday, July 30 at 12:01 a.m.

The mayor's office said those battling homelessness will be connected with the city's outreach teams and resources will be provided. The Los Angeles Police Department is expected to enforce the scheduled clearance Thursday night.

The effort was part of the six-week outreach program that was announced by Los Angeles Councilmember Mike Bonin last month.

The initiative, which Bonin called a collaboration between neighbors, government agencies and nonprofits, will offer nearly 200 people a pathway to permanent housing and appropriate services to help them succeed.

Those lived along the seaside encampment were given the choice of accepting the offer to accept housing or to move out of the area. Bonin said his plan differed from Sheriff Villanueva’s, who has been critical of the many plans aimed to address LA’s homeless crisis.
