Horseshoe Fire in Riverside County now fully contained

Riverside County firefighters battled a brush fire that broke out Saturday evening near Hemet.

Crews responded to the 21000 block of Stagecoach Trail, in Juniper Flats after 6:30 p.m. The first arriving engine reported the fire burning in heavy fuels with a moderate rate of spread. The Horseshoe Fire burned approximately 520 acres and is 100% contained as of Tuesday evening, according to Cal Fire officials.

Fire crews will remain on scene continuing mop-up operations.

By Sunday afternoon all mandatory evacuations were lifted.

Evacuations were set in place for the community of Mayberry in San Jacinto near the intersection of Cottonwood Avenue and Warren Road.

A care and reception center has been established at Tahquitz High School, on 4425 Titan Trail in Hemet.
