Human leg found on shoreline in Palos Verdes Estates

LOS ANGELES - Detectives are investigating after a human leg was found on the shoreline near Bluff Cove in Palos Verdes Estates.

Officers responded to the shoreline near the 800 block of Paseo Del Mar around 8:20 a.m. Christmas Day after someone spotted a leg. 

The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office was called to assist with the investigation. The remains were confirmed to be human and were recovered by the Coroner’s Office.

A cadaver dog was used to search the area, but no additional remains were located. 

A second search is planned for Thursday afternoon.

The remains have not been identified yet. 

Officials say at this time there is no direct indication that the remains are connected to the beached vessel that was located the day before in the
1800 block of Paseo Del Mar. However, it is not being ruled out, investigators said.
