Shooting victim's body dumped in shed

A man who was shot and killed was dumped in a shed near Playa del Rey.

Authorities discovered the body of a homeless man in a "shed-like" structure beneath the Culver Blvd bridge near Playa del Rey on Saturday morning.

Officials received a call just before 11 a.m. reporting a body located in a "confined space" at the Ballona Creek flood control channel near the 13500 block of Culver Blvd.

The man, identified as 49-year-old Anthony Quinn Ussery, was a victim of a shooting and his death is now being investigated as a homicide, authorities say.

Culver Boulevard was temporarily closed in both directions between Jefferson and Lincoln boulevards to allow for the retrieval of the body.

The death remains under investigation.
