In Depth: Highlighting our school standouts

SEGMENT A: Megan Colarossi and our School Standouts Program

Good Day LA Anchor Megan Colarossi joins Hal Eisner to talk about Fox 11's School Standouts program. Megan has been visiting schools across Southern California - profiling students, teachers, and administrators who are making a big difference at their schools, and in their communities.

SEGMENT B: School Standout: Kendall Stier

Saddleback Valley Christian High School student Kendall Stier talks about the "never give up" attitude that makes her one of our School Standouts. She is joined by her twin sister Madison, and their mother Shannon. Kendall has battled Cerebral Palsy since birth, but it has not stopped her from becoming one of California's top para-athletes.

SEGMENT C: School Standout: Joseph Zeccola

Joseph Zeccola is the 2018 LAUSD and LA County Teacher of the Year. He is also one of our School Standouts. Megan Colarossi travels to Zeccola's classroom at the Sherman Oaks Center for Enriched Studies, to find out why he is one of LA's top teachers. He tells us how he connects with his students in a way that helps them become more effective in school, and life. We also hear from George Washington Preparatory Principal Dr. Dechele Byrd. She talks about what her school is doing to encourage students in South LA… including Damion Lester, another one of our School Standouts.
