Kendrick Lamar, SZA to perform at Watts holiday toy drive, concert

It’s the year of Kendrick Lamar and the "Not Like Us" rapper continues to be a man of the people.

After releasing a new album, "GNX," and two months ahead of his Super Bowl 2025 halftime show, he was listed as one of the headliners for the 11th Annual TDE (Top Dawg Entertainment) Concert and Toy Drive on Thursday.

The two-day celebration supports the Nickerson Gardens Housing Projects in Watts.

On Friday, TDE will host family-friendly activities from noon-5 p.m. and a job fair from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Since this year marks 20 years for the independent label founded in Carson, they’re going all out this year.

Along with Lamar, some other artists set to hit the stage are SZA, Doechii, Jay Rock and ScHoolboy Q.

While Lamar left the label in 2022, his scheduled appearance proves he remains grateful to the label.

Concertgoers are asked to bring an unwrapped gift for entry.

Local openers are scheduled to hit the stage at 1 p.m. and the main show starts at 2:30 p.m.

The concert will take place at 11251 Compton Avenue in Watts. Attendees are encouraged to use rideshare services and can access the venue at the intersection of 114th Street and Success Ave.

For those unable to make the event, they can catch SZA and Lamar during their tour next summer.
