2 wounded in Encino shooting

Authorities said two people were wounded after being shot in Encino.

Two men were wounded in what is now being investigated as an attempted robbery after shots were fired overnight in Encino

Authorities said the shooting was reported just before 2 a.m. Thursday and that the victims stopped near the intersection of Hayvenhurst Avenue, just north of Magnolia Boulevard.

Initially, the victims were unable to communicate with police because they were not fluent in English.

The victims were then transported to an area hospital where they were able to explain to Russian and Armenian translators what happened.

Investigators with the Los Angeles Police Department said a tire light on the victims’ car came on and they had stopped to check something when they were confronted by the suspect.

The incident is now being investigated as a robbery attempt after the suspect allegedly asked one of the victims for money.

A description of the suspect was not available and the investigation is ongoing.
