Teen critically injured after stabbing at DTLA immigration protest
The 17-year-old remains in critical condition.
LOS ANGELES - Protesters demonstrated in downtown Los Angeles yet again on Saturday against President Donald Trump's immigration policies, marking a full week of protests. Saturday's event comes one day after a similar downtown protest ended with a teen student being stabbed.
What we know:
The protesters marched from Boyle Heights to City Hall and back. It was the seventh straight day after students in Los Angeles and around Southern California skipped class to call for an end to ICE raids and Trump's deportations.
The California Highway Patrol blocked freeway on and off ramps on the march route to keep demonstrators from getting on the highway. There wer also several hecklers along the way.
The backstory:
Saturday's protests come just one day after demonstrations near City Hall ended with a 17-year-old boy getting stabbed. The Los Angeles Police Department said that the boy is in the hospital in critical condition.

New video shared on Saturday showed the moment of the attack, where a person in a black hoodie is seen taking out a knife and swinging at the boy.
Esteban Perez shot the video and said the suspect wasn't a part of the demonstration.
"He was antagonizing the crowd," Perez said. "[It's] very upsetting to see that sort of violence break out." Perez added that the man, seen in a black hoodie, was shouting incendiary comments, and the 17-year-old approached him. That's when the suspect pulled out a knife and attacked.
What they're saying:
Protesters said they wanted to make their point on Saturday, peacefully.
"It's possible to make a difference by raising your voice, as a community, since we're being attacked right now, immigrants, the Latino community," said Manny Carlos.
"We're fighting this pandemic of fear," said Perez. "Everything from the President all the way down, that just trickles into this hatred and this racism."
