Woman killed in Arlington Heights hit-and-run

Bibiana Retana-Sosa was killed after she was hit by a white Mazda while crossing in a crosswalk in Arlington Heights. Police are now searching for the driver, who fled the scene.

Officials said a woman was struck and killed by a driver in the Arlington Heights of Los Angeles Tuesday morning. 

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics were called to the intersection of 12th Avenue and Venice Boulevard around 6:45 a.m. after reports of a female who was not breathing. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Police identified her as Bibiana Retana-Sosa. She was 66.

Police said Sosa was crossing the street in the marked crosswalk heading north on Venice Blvd. when a white Maza hit her and continued to travel east.

A woman was struck and killed in the Arlington Heights area on the morning of Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2023.

A description of the suspect was not available. The city of Los Angeles has a standing $50,000 reward offered for information leading to the driver's arrest and conviction. 

Anyone with information on the crash was asked to call detectives at 213-473-0234, or by submitting tips anonymously at 800-222-8477.
