Landslide in Laguna Beach closes 1,000 Steps Beach
A landslide has closed portions of 1,000 Steps Beach in Laguna Beach. Experts say there's no threat to any structures.
LAGUNA BEACH, Calif. - Authorities in Orange County said a landslide prompted the beach closure of 9th Street Beach, commonly referred to as Thousand Steps Beach, in Laguna Beach on Friday.
Laguna Beach city officials said a landslide was reported in the bluff area around 7:15 a.m.
Authorities said there is no threat to other properties and that a geologist was on the way to the scene.
Aerial images from SkyFOX showed the landslide at the popular Orange County beach.
No injuries have been reported.
While it rained in Southern California earlier this week, the official cause of the landslide was under investigation.
It's unknown when the beach will reopen.
