Large brush fire burning alongside 210 Freeway in Sylmar
LOS ANGELES - Firefighters battled a brush fire along the westbound 210 Freeway in the Sylmar area of Los Angeles Friday afternoon.
The fire broke out shortly after 3:30 p.m. and quickly began burning into heavy timber. Los Angeles County Fire assisted the L.A. Fire Department with a full brush fire response.
Approximately three acres burned before fire crews knocked it down at about 5:37 p.m. An aggressive ground and aerial attack with at least one helicopter making continuous water drops, gave firefighters the upper hand.

At least one of the freeway traffic lanes has been impacted. The slow lane at Roxford Street and Westbound 210 Freeway, as well as the off ramp are closed for at least two hours due to the fire.
Over 70 firefighters battled the flames for nearly two hours.
No injuries were reported and no structures were lost. No evacuations occurred during the incident. It's unknown how long crews will remain on scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
