All LAUSD schools closed Thursday as fires continue to rage across LA County
LOS ANGELES - Due to the ongoing wildfires burning across LA County, the Los Angeles Unified School District announced that all schools and offices will be closed Thursday, Jan. 9.
According to the district, students will continue to have digital access to academic resources. More information is available at lausd.org/learningcontinues.
The district said they will continue to assess the situation over the next 24 hours while preparing for the possibility of online learning for Friday. The district said they would make a decision about Friday by 4 p.m. Thursday.
During a press conference Wednesday night, Superintendent Alberto Carvalho said two schools were completely destroyed: Marquez Elementary and Palisades Elementary. 30% of Palisades Charter High School was also damaged.

Meal Distribution: From 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Jan. 9, Los Angeles Unified will open eight sites (two per region) to provide meals for students. District families may stop by and walk into any of these locations to receive two meals per student. This will only be available for Los Angeles Unified students.
North: Mulholland Middle School, Sepulveda Middle School
East: Hollenbeck Middle School, South Gate High School
South: Fremont High School, Harry Bridges Span School
West: Marina Del Rey Middle School, Sonia Sotomayor Arts and Sciences and Magnet
Mental Health Support Services: Los Angeles Unified students and families in need of mental health support are encouraged to call our Student and Family Wellness Resource Line at 213-241-3840. Support is currently available between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Employees may access Employee Assistance Service for Education (EASE) by visiting lausd.org/domain/1438 or calling the 24/7 support line at 800-882-1341.
