LAX Traffic Is Congested As Holiday Ends
LOS ANGELES, CA (FOX 11) - Traffic and lots of it!!! It was a toss-up whether it was the upper deck or the lower that was worse. Bad airport traffic as travelers returned home shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. A couple of weeks ago LAX officials said it would be like this. 2.3 million travelers during an 11-day period. 215,000 to 232,000 each of these last two busy days as people return home.
Traffic was, at times, so slow no one was really going anywhere. There were people leaving town and others, like Cody Medler coming home. We saw him playing with his rubric's cube to pass the time as he waited for his ride. Medler said, he had an "amazing holiday," but, coming back to LAX Airport traffic was "awful".
It was. Airport officials say normally there are 90,000 vehicles on the upper and lower deck in this Central Terminal area on any given day. On these mega-busy days, though, it's more like the 105,000 to 124,000. And, for the 11-day holiday period… a million give or take.
Eric Wahlberg arrived at LAX from Boston. He says it was all good till he got to LA then it was like hitting a stop sign. "I've been waiting outside this terminal for about an hour." He said, "I had to call three different Lyfts." He finally got one.
Bottomline is that if you have to go to LAX for any reason give yourself plenty of time.
