Federal agents arrested Stephen Beal on Sunday, a Long Beach man previously arrested in a deadly blast that killed his girlfriend in May 2018.

Agents also raided Beal's home on Sunday.

Ildiko Krajnyak, 48, was killed when she opened a cardboard box at a day spa in Aliso Viejo. Two other women suffered significant burns and other injuries. More than 1,000 pieces of evidence were collected from the crime scene, 300 of which were sent to the FBI to be examined, authorities said.

Beal was not charged with causing the blast after his arrest in 2018 but he was charged in federal court with possession of an unregistered destructive device. Prosecutors successfully brought a motion to dismiss the charges.

In November 2018, the Sheriff's department and FBI said they were still looking for a suspect and asked for the public's help.

Officials are expected to release more information on Sunday's arrest at a news conference Monday morning, March 4, 2019.
